We lost a lot of beloved celebrities this year (2016). The most recent loss, Carrie Fisher, was a pretty tough one for many. While she was best known for her role as Princess Leia in Star Wars, her accomplishments are much deeper and far reaching than that. As an actress, an author and a screenwriter, she impacted so many people around the world. While many adore her for those roles, the powerful legacy she leaves behind for many comes from her years spent talking about mental illness. She was diagnosed with bipolar disorder at the age of 24, and spent a lot of her life talking about it and working to break down the stigma that surrounds mental illness.
One of her best quotes, was from a talk where she was giving advice to people with mental illness who have big dreams. She says:
“Stay afraid, but do it anyway. What’s important is the action. You don’t have to wait to be confident. Just do it and eventually the confidence will follow.”
I think that’s great advice for everyone.
And, it’s also in line with my thoughts around when it’s time for you to launch your book, your business or your next big project. If you’re sitting on something, wondering if you should finally let the world know about your work … today’s video is for you.
